• Christophe Castaner is approached to become chairman of the supervisory board of the Grand Port of Marseille.

  • If the decree of his appointment to the council is still missing, he could be elected to the presidency at the next session scheduled for October 14.

  • This would allow an early walker, currently crossing the desert, to be placed in a strategic position for the application of the component of the Macron plan for the port.

As reported by

La Provence

, Christophe Castaner, former Minister of the Interior of Emmanuel Macron, should take the presidency of the supervisory board of the large port of Marseille.

An announcement made by Renaud Muselier, the president of the Paca region who also sits in this body responsible for implementing the strategic project of the port establishment.

A non-executive and unpaid function, had specified Christophe Castaner on BFM, wishing to pull the rug out from under the feet of those who would be tempted to mock this new function in the light of the promise made by Emmanuel Macron to find a job for his outgoing deputies beaten, fate that the second constituency of the Alpes-de-Haute-Provence reserved last June for the former minister and spokesperson for Emmanuel Macron during his 2017 campaign.

For the time being Christophe Castaner does not wish to speak further, he expressed to

20 Minutes

, waiting for the decree of appointment to be released and for his possible election to take place during the next supervisory board which will take place next October 14.

"For the moment, we have no candidate," said the large port of Marseille.

A first-time walker to pilot “the port on a large scale”

Until then chaired on an interim basis by Elisabeth Ayrault, former director of the Compagnie Nationale du Rhône, the appointment of this first-hour walker would however have a certain coherence: that of ensuring the proper conduct of Emmanuel Macron's project for the great port of Marseille, declined during its visit in September 2021.

That also of ensuring that “the exceptional investments” promised serve the said project well: “Marseille must become the bridgehead of the Rhône-Saône axis.

And in this respect, the transformation of the seaport into a major river-sea port going from Marseille to Lyon must be done, keeping its headquarters in Marseille, through consultation”, expressed the President of the Republic.

A letter of mission to this effect had already been sent to Hervé Martel, chairman of the management board of the large maritime port of Marseille, and to Elisabeth Ayrault.

A first report has already been sent to the Prime Minister.

Upon learning of the probable appointment of Christophe Castaner, the CGT port professions made its opposition known: “This announcement questions us and worries us both in form and in substance”.

"The Grand Port is not the receptacle of ministers or elected officials deprived of their mandates, eager for recognition or in search of a political springboard", declared the union in a press release, specifying that it had filed a strike notice. starting September 30.

Contacted today, the port has so far not reported any strike action.

The fact remains that if Christophe Castaner were to integrate the organization chart of the great port of Marseille to help decline Emmanuel Macron's project for him, this function, even if unpaid, would allow him to return to the political and economic game, and to put his foot back to the curry, he who had been elected continuously since 2001 and who has experienced in recent months, a real crossing of the desert.

A crossing of the desert which could therefore begin to dissipate with a landing in the large port of Marseille, helped by Renaud Muselier, who left the LR and recently launched "Territory first" his regional party.
