Blinken: Putin's accusations of sabotaging Nord Stream are "blatant misinformation"

On Friday, US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken rejected Russian President Vladimir Putin's accusation that the West was behind the explosions on the Nord Stream gas pipelines, speaking of "flagrant misinformation."

"I have nothing to say about President Putin's absurd claims that we or our allied partners are in any way responsible for this matter," Blinken told a press conference.

Western countries considered that the gas leakage from the Nord Stream 1 and 2 pipelines was the result of sabotage, but Blinken said that the identity of the perpetrator was unclear.

"We will get to the truth of what happened. We will share this information when we get it, but I don't want to pre-empt the investigation," he added.

Blinken indicated that he was "in close contact" with his Danish and Swedish counterparts about what happened.
