Musical theater, concerts and lots of new music in the billboard of the XIV edition of the Reate Festival, also this year set - as well as in the extraordinary 'places of music' of the city of Rieti - in important Roman spaces such as the Theater of Villa Torlonia and the Sala Box.

An edition full of new proposals, attentive to the enhancement of young artists, with the usual attention to masterpieces of the past centuries set up according to the criteria of today's philology with original tools.

The latter is the case of an eighteenth-century opera masterpiece with which the festival is inaugurated,

Le astuzie donne

by Domenico Cimarosa, a work that, while enjoying a good fortune in modern times, only now thanks to an accurate work on the score is it brought back to the composer's original dictation.

The performance with period instruments is entrusted to the Theresia Orchestra, an international team composed of young musicians, coming from the major European schools of early music, directed by Alessandro De Marchi, a specialist in this repertoire requested by the most important theaters on the international circuit. .

The singing company is made up of young professionals, the direction is by Cesare Scarton, the sets by Michele Della Cioppa, the costumes by Anna Biagiotti, the lights by Andrea Tocchio.

The wiles of women

in this first performance in modern times faithful to the original it is presented at the Flavio Vespasiano of Rieti on 8 and 9 October and at the Theater of Villa Torlonia in Rome on 14 and 15 October.

Vocality as a leitmotif also characterizes two major programming events, in homage to that Belcanto which the Reate Festival has been inspired by since the first edition.

Two great voices of the international scene will perform in recitals at the Theater of Villa Torlonia.

The soprano Rosa Feola will return on October 16, who made her debut as the protagonist of

Il Campanello  at the 2010 Reate Festival

by Donizetti;

she will be accompanied by the pianist Fabio Centanni (music by Gioachino Rossini, Vincenzo Bellini, Gaetano Donizetti, Giuseppe Verdi).

The other great protagonist is Vivica Genaux, a mezzo-soprano with an amazing virtuosity, who on November 27 with the pianist Marcos Madrigal will perform music by Franz Joseph Haydn, Gioachino Rossini, Federico Ricci, Manuel Garcia, Pauline Viardot.

The other important focus of the programming is that dedicated to New Music, a 'mission' that the Reate Festival has made its own by declining it in various forms.

For this XIV edition, inspired by a very significant exhibition organized in Rieti by the Varrone Foundation and dedicated to the figurative production of people with psychiatric disabilities,

the superintendent Lucia Bonifaci and the artistic director Cesare Scarton have commissioned a work of musical theater dedicated to the theme.

It was thus born

Magic Circles

,

Story by Martin W. who knew how to count the stars,

one-act opera based on a text by Guido Barbieri and original music by Fabrizio De Rossi Re (Rieti, Flavio Vespasiano Theater, 20 November).

On the stage Vinicio Marchioni, directed by Cesare Scarton, the choir is Alter Ego Ensemble, the instrumental part is entrusted to the Reate Festival Modern Ensemble directed by Gabriele Bonolis.

The contribution to the deepening of the study of the interpretation of modern and contemporary music is constituted by the International Contemporary Music Interpretation Competition dedicated to single performers and vocal and instrumental formations.

The deadline for sending the recordings is set for 30 September, while on 20 October the names of the winners will be announced who will play in the final concerts on 15 and 22 November in Rome at the Sala Casella and on 16 and 23 in Rieti in the Church of S. Giorgio.

Furthermore, some of the winners of the previous editions are present in the program of the festival in a review to be held in Rieti at the Auditorium Varrone: Emanuele Stracchi, piano (21 October), Davide and Sara Moro, violin and piano (28 October), Sirius Accordion Trio, accordions (November 3),

The program is completed by a chamber concert by the clarinet trio formed by Alessandro Carbonare, Luca Cipriano and Giuseppe Muscogiuri (19 October, Rome, Teatro di Villa Torlonia) and a symphonic concert by the Roma Tre Orchestra conducted by Sieva Borzak with Giovanni Bertolazzi solo pianist ( 4 December, Rieti, Flavio Vespasiano Theater).

As part of the School Project, there will be theater for children and families, a by now customary appointment that returns to animate the interest of the very young towards the great opera repertoire.

This year Europa In Canto will set up

Cenerentola

by Gioachino Rossini, in the usual formula that begins in schools and culminates in the theater, on 22 and 23 November.

The Europa In Canto Orchestra will be directed by Germano Neri, the dramaturgical adaptation is by Nunzia Nigro, directed by Claudia Sorace.
