China News Service, September 29. According to Thailand's "World Daily" report, on September 27, the Ministry of Tourism and Sports of Thailand and the Bank of Thailand signed a memorandum of understanding on charging "entry fees" for foreign tourists.

Charged services will be handled by the bank to facilitate foreign travelers to pay.

The Ministry of Tourism and Sports of Thailand pointed out that the collection of entry fees is based on the relevant provisions of the National Tourism Policy Act 2019.

Foreign tourists are charged for sightseeing in Thailand for the purpose of tourism management and development, and also as insurance premiums for foreign tourists during their travel in Thailand.

In terms of tourism management and development, the Ministry of Tourism and Sports further explained that in the long run, the fee can help enhance the competitiveness of Thailand's tourism industry, cultivate and strengthen the functions of industry practitioners, preserve community tourism resources, maintain the quality of tourist attractions, and promote local tourism. New tourism products, etc.

Inbound tourism fees will be part of the industry's revenue generation to support the sustainable development of Thailand's tourism industry.

Not only that, the payment will provide insurance for foreign tourists during their trip to Thailand, which can be seen as a direct benefit after paying the fee.

This will also enhance the confidence of tourists in visiting Thailand and make them feel more at ease.

Regarding this case, the Ministry of Tourism and Sports has designated the signing unit of the memorandum of understanding, and the Office of the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry has formulated operational guidelines according to different entry methods and payment channels.

For example, passengers enter Thailand by air, land, water or train, and the toll collection channels include websites, mobile applications, automatic service multi-function machines or random ticket collection.

The Ministry of Tourism and Sports also mentioned that some of the information obtained when collecting entry fees from tourists will be analyzed separately to formulate future tourism development plans or policies to further meet the needs of tourists.

Tourism and Sports Minister Pippa has previously said that the cabinet could approve a proposal to charge foreign tourists entry fees in October, which is expected to be implemented from early next year.
