A teacher of a high school in Rome allegedly forced a student of Iranian origin to cut a lock of hair, urging her to express solidarity with Iranian women, who are protesting these days after the death of Mahsa Amini.

The professor risks a disciplinary sanction.

According to Adnkronos, the school - an institute in the center of Rome - has already initiated

disciplinary proceedings

against the teacher involved in the case, while the regional school office is following the story.

"The episode concerning the young Iranian student must be verified but, if true, it would be an unacceptable form of bullying," said the mayor of Rome

Roberto Gualtieri

.

That of the teacher who cut the lock of hair of an Iranian student '' is an attitude that does little to reconcile with the right and duty of teachers to train students.

If for every manifestation that happens outside we intervene in such a dramatic way it is clear that the only thing we get is that these issues become divisive.

School needs calmness and wisdom does not need divisive elements ''.

Mario Rusconi, president of the National Association of

Principals of Rome, said this to Adnkronos

, commenting on the case that took place in a high school in the capital.

"We condemn this gesture because it deprives the girl of her independence of thought and action, as well as having exposed her to public mockery in the classroom. Violence is not responded to with as much violence".
