The Radeberger Group, which is part of the Oetker Group, is closing the Binding brewery in Frankfurt-Sachsenhausen.

Production and bottling would gradually be phased out by October 2023 at the latest, and the brands produced there as well as the binding would be manufactured at other Group locations in the future.

Binding, Henninger, Schöfferhofer Weizen and Clausthaler beers are still brewed in Sachsenhausen.

"It was a decision that those responsible did not take lightly," says a statement.

In the light of unprecedented cost explosions, however, there was no alternative.

With the abandonment of the location, the market leader in the German beer market is anticipating a long-term decline in the beer market due to structural changes, in which overcapacities would be removed from the market.

"We struggled for a long time to keep the Binding brewery in Frankfurt as a location that is emotionally special for all of us." Radeberger's corporate headquarters will remain in Frankfurt.

The brewery staff have been informed.

Socially acceptable solutions will be sought for the 150 employees affected by the closure.
