Stefan Sturesson, who was active in both the municipal council and the municipal board in Bromölla, between 2012 and 2020 was incorrectly paid compensation for lost income.

This is for his political mission in Bromölla but also from the Kristianstad district court where he sat as a member of the jury.

From Bromölla municipality, he has received incorrect compensation of over SEK 500,000 and from Kristianstad district court almost SEK 300,000.

Worked at night

Stefan Sturesson worked during the period as a nurse at Region Skåne, mainly at night.

But he did not work when the meetings in the municipality and the district court were in progress.

He justifies that he applied for compensation for lost income by saying that, due to his duties of trust, he refused to jump into his job extra.

However, the Kristianstad District Court states in its judgment that Region Skåne did not make any deductions from his salary due to political assignments.

The fact that he had to refuse extra work shifts cannot be counted as an actual loss of income, according to the district court.

"Deliberately misleading"

According to the court, Stefan Sturesson has deliberately misled the municipality and the district court.

He is sentenced to one year and eight months in prison.

He must also pay damages to Bromölla municipality and Kristianstad district court.

Stefan Sturesson has previously denied wrongdoing.

- I have no comment, says Stefan Sturesson's lawyer Rickard Sjöström when SVT Nyheter Skåne reaches him for a comment on the verdict.

He has already been excluded from the Moderates.
