According to RIA Novosti, speaking about the referendums held, the Turkish leader expressed concern that these territories would become part of Russia.

“It can happen because Mr. Putin, whom I know, if he has something in mind, he will do it,” Erdogan said.

He also expressed the hope that the leaders of the countries will leave "this issue at the point where it has reached" and move on to diplomacy.

Earlier, the deputy head of the administration of the Kherson region, Kirill Stremousov, said that the leadership of the Zaporozhye and Kherson regions, the DPR and the LPR had arrived in Moscow.

According to him, the meeting in Moscow is being held to make a "historic decision."

Erdogan said he plans to have a telephone conversation with Putin on September 29.
