Russia's Kalashnikov Corporation has reported nearly 20 years of record sales for its legendary assault rifle, seven months into the war in Ukraine.

The head of the company, Alan Lushnikov, announced in Izhevsk that sales of the Kalashnikov rifle increased by 40%.

He did not provide absolute figures for the most widely used arms sales in the world.

He stressed that the priority is for the Russian army, and added that ensuring the country's defense capability, especially in the current circumstances, is the task that all the company's departments focus on doing without exception.

According to Lushnikov, the increase in sales is also due to exports, and he explained, "Our production capacities are being used extensively this year."

According to previous information reported by the German news agency, India, for example, will receive 70,000 pieces of the AK-103 Kalashnikov.

Russian arms export company Rosoboronexport has announced that it now sells more than 100,000 Kalashnikov assault rifles of various models abroad each year.

The Kalashnikov automatic rifle (AK) is the most widely used in the world, and models are manufactured without Russian permission.
