On September 28, local time, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky discussed the latest situation of the conflict between Russia and Ukraine.

According to a statement from the Turkish presidency, Erdogan said that after a long preparation, the exchange of detained persons between Russia and Ukraine was a complete success.

Erdogan said the Ukrainian Food Security Transport Initiative had worked successfully, stressing that a similar approach could be taken with the Zaporozhye nuclear power plant.

He proposed that Turkey could act as a "mediator" over the establishment of a demilitarized zone around the nuclear power plant.
