The White House condemns Iranian attacks on Kurdish areas in Iraq

White House National Security Adviser Jake Sullivan on Wednesday denounced Iran's drone missile attacks on Kurdish areas in Iraq, and said Washington would continue to impose sanctions and other means to disrupt Tehran's "destabilizing activities."

"Iran cannot distract from its internal problems and the legitimate demands of its population for cross-border attacks," Sullivan said in a statement, denouncing Tehran's "blatant use of missiles and drones against its neighbors."

The Iranian Revolutionary Guards said earlier today that it had fired missiles and drones at militant targets in the Kurdish region of northern Iraq, where an official said nine people had been killed.
