Stefan Lagerberg took over the store ten years ago.

During those years, he has invested millions in modernisations, not least in energy-efficient solutions.

Today, he is grateful that he invested, because even if the electricity bills are now high, it would have been worse without the efficiency improvements.

He shows around the fridges in the store and the ventilation system in the warehouse.

The system ensures that the heat generated by the coolers is taken care of.

- This way we heat the shop, it costs nothing, it's free, he says, but adds that after all he needs to burn some pellets when it's the coldest of the year.

Solar panels on the roof

Three years ago, the landlord got approval to put solar panels on the roof.

For a grocery store that needs the most electricity during the summer to keep coolers and freezers running, it is extra efficient, because the solar panels generate more electricity at that time.

- That equation is very good.

Big sums – but everyone can do something

He has received various types of sparsely populated areas grants for several of the investments, sometimes of up to half the amount.

But despite that, it's about large sums he laid out.

The solar cells - which he set up three years ago - have soon paid for themselves, but some investments will take considerably longer before they become profitable.

He claims, however, that one does not need to invest large sums in reducing consumption.

- Absolutely not, not everyone can set up solar panels.

But looking over fridges and counters can be done by everyone, and everyone will probably have to do it soon.

Although it is expensive, it can be done in different steps.
