On September 28, Zhu Fenglian, spokesperson of the Taiwan Affairs Office of the State Council, presided over a regular press conference.

In response to State Councilor and Foreign Minister Wang Yi's stern position on the Taiwan issue during the 77th UN General Assembly, he compared "Taiwan independence" to a "grey rhino" that should be resolutely stopped.

Spokesperson Zhu Fenglian pointed out that the DPP authorities have colluded with external forces to carry out "independence-seeking" provocations, undermining the hard-won peaceful development of cross-strait relations, attempting to change the fact that both sides of the strait belong to one China, and undermining China's sovereignty and territorial integrity.

The "Taiwan independence" separatist forces and their activities pose a serious threat to the peace and reunification of the Taiwan Strait, and cause serious damage to the vital interests of compatriots on both sides of the strait and the fundamental interests of the Chinese nation.

Only by resolutely curbing "Taiwan independence" can we ensure the peaceful development of cross-strait relations, the peace and stability of the Taiwan Strait, and the peaceful reunification of the two sides.
