Saudi Arabia, one of the world's leading oil-producing countries in the Middle East, has announced that it has appointed Crown Prince Mohammed as prime minister, who has been concurrently served by King Salman.

The succession of authority from the elderly king to the 37-year-old crown prince became clear.

The Saudi government announced on the 27th through the state-run news agency that King Salman has issued an order to reshuffle the cabinet.

According to the announcement, King Salman has appointed Crown Prince Mohammed as prime minister.

In Saudi Arabia, the sons of the first king have been on the throne for six generations, but King Salman is concentrating power, such as having Crown Prince Mohammed, the first grandson, lead the economic policy of ``de-oil''.

King Salman was 86 years old, and 37-year-old Crown Prince Mohammed was increasingly representing the king in politics and diplomacy.

With this appointment, the succession of authority from King Salman to Crown Prince Mohammed has become clear, and it is expected that the influence of Crown Prince Mohammed will be further strengthened in the future.

In addition, after keeping Energy Minister Abdul Aziz, the older brother of Crown Prince Mohammed, who is responsible for energy policy, which is the pillar of national revenue, in his post, he promoted his younger brother, Deputy Defense Minister Khalid, to the position of Defense Minister. The power base is also being strengthened.
