“The result of the actions of the American corporation was the loss by millions of Russian users of the opportunity to use the VKontakte social network and other applications, including: VK Music, VK Clips, VK Messenger, VK Admin, Mail.ru,” Roskomnadzor reports.

The agency believes that such restrictions violate the rights of Russian Internet users to freely receive information and communicate.

Roskomnadzor also demanded that Apple explain the reasons for the removal by the App Store of a number of other popular applications of Russian companies, including Domclick, Yula, 2GIS, Sberbank, Alfa-Bank, VTB, Promsvyazbank , Sovcombank, Otkritie, Novikombank, Aeroflot and Utair.

Earlier, the Ministry of Digital Transformation of Russia sent a request to Apple regarding the reasons for removing VK applications from the App Store.
