• Referendum Pere Aragonès clings to the dialogue with Pedro Sánchez with a "clarity agreement" and Junts launches a new ultimatum

  • Govern ERC and Junts meet to redirect their crisis and create the new 'general staff' of the 'procés'

The president of the Generalitat, Pere Aragonès, has suspended his scheduled agenda for this Wednesday.

The cancellation comes after, last night, Junts per Catalunya, his partner in the Government, threatened to ask him to submit to a matter of confidence if he does not offer guarantees of complying with the investiture agreement signed just over a year ago.

In the General Policy Debate in Parliament, the president of JxCat in the Chamber, Albert Batet, justified that the issue of trust could be an "opportunity" to give "more stability" to the Executive and recalled that, in 2016, the former President Carles Puigdemont also did so and "was strengthened" after committing to calling a self-determination referendum the following year.

In his turn to reply, Aragonès reacted emphatically: "I will not enter into any game that subjects the Catalan institutions to uncertainty and a temporary period that the citizens do not deserve."
