After several dismissals, his trial finally took place.

Since Monday, a 38-year-old man, nicknamed the "Chinese", was tried in Lorient court for a major cocaine trafficking between January 2018 and June 2020, reports

.

Leading a great lifestyle even though he was unemployed, the accused had taken to showing off his wealth on social networks.

“The respondent displayed himself behind the wheel of luxury cars and exhibited wads of tickets”, then indicated Stéphane Kellenberger, public prosecutor of Lorient.

He had been arrested with about fifteen people during a major raid carried out in June 2020. During the searches, three kilos of cocaine, more than 100,000 euros in cash and several luxury cars had been seized from his home.

Five other defendants sentenced

During the hearing, the "Chinese", already convicted in the past for drug trafficking, wanted to minimize his role in the traffic, presenting himself just as a small trafficker.

The court was not convinced and sentenced him to twelve years in prison.

The five other defendants tried in this case were sentenced to terms ranging from eight months suspended prison sentence to four years.
