Kremlin rejects Russia's accusation of attack on Nord Stream

The Kremlin said on Wednesday that allegations that Russia was somehow responsible for the attack on the Nord Stream pipelines were "stupid", adding that Moscow had seen a sharp increase in profits for US companies that supply gas to Europe.

During a daily press conference, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said it was necessary to investigate the accident, adding that the time frame for repairing damage to the pipelines was not clear.

Europe is investigating what Germany, Denmark and Sweden said were attacks that caused major gas leaks in the Baltic Sea from two Russian gas pipelines.
