Star director Johan Renck has, among other things, directed the series Chernobyl for HBO and several episodes of Breaking Bad and Walking dead.

But he is also behind David Bowie's last project, the music video for the song Lazarus.

Their collaboration began with Bowie writing the intro music for Renck's TV series The Last Panthers.

The intro music became the basis for the song Black star, for which Renck directed the music video.

During the course of the work, Johan Renck received a heavy video call from David Bowie.

- He was lying in his bedroom and looked a little scared.

And then he says to me: 'there is something I have to tell you.

I'm very sick, I'm going to die', says Johan Renck in Min sanning.

Talked about death

But there was another music video, Lazarus, in which Bowie is largely filmed lying in a bed.

A few days after the video was published, Johan Renck learned that David Bowie had passed away.

- It was shocking.

I was quite sure that thing was behind us, he hadn't shown a sign.

The whole idea that he was ill had seeped away, says Johan Renck.

- We had talked about death in the way you do when you have come so far in life that you think death is strange and enigmatic.

But we never talked about his death or that death would rob us of him.
