The idea of the exhibition is to raise both existential and political questions through the car, and here both criticism and praise of the vehicle can be found.
A total of nine artists exhibit works with the car as a common point of departure.
- The car is a multi-faceted object that means a lot to the people's soul, says Liv Stoltz, exhibition curator.
We really want to show the car in a varied way.
Several works have a critical eye, and address issues such as the environment, global consumption and accidents.
But here are also works that, for example, highlight the importance of the car and the automotive industry for societies.
Cooperation with motor club
One of the initiators is the artist Josefine Östberg Olsson, who also participates with the work Demolition Derby.
It is inspired by those competitions where you crash cars until only one working car remains.
In working on the piece, she has collaborated with the artists Johan Zetterquist, Mattias Nordström, Linda Tedsdotter and Zara Zetterquist - but also with a motor club and with high school students on the automotive program.
The exhibition runs until January 8, 2023.
