Hurricane Ion, which made landfall in Florida with a magnitude of 4 in local time, was observed as a super-massive hurricane approaching grade 5 even just before landing.



On a scale of 1 to 5, the higher the number, the stronger the hurricane. So far, only two typhoons have made landfall with a rating of 5 in the past 30 years.



Ion swept through Cuba with a level 3, which is somewhat weaker than it is now, but the destructive power was so strong that the power grid collapsed, causing power outages throughout Cuba.
