After the project is completed, it will form a complete Guangzhou-Foshan intercity rail transit line, which is the main artery radiating rail transit in the Greater Bay Area, marking a new level of Guangzhou-Foshan urbanization and the coordinated development of the Guangzhou metropolitan area.
Guangfo West Ring is located in the northwest of Guangzhou and the northeast of Foshan. It is an important part of the intercity rail transit network in the Pearl River Delta. , with the function of geographical link in the road network of "grouping in groups and heading northwest".

The line starts from Foshan West Railway Station and ends at Guangzhou North Railway Station, with a length of about 47 kilometers, of which about 16.5 kilometers in Guangzhou and 30.5 kilometers in Foshan.
There are 9 stations on the whole line. In addition to the existing Guangzhou North Station and Foshan West Station, 7 new stations will be built, and 1 intercity railway vocational training section will be set up in Tanbu.
The estimated project budget is 22.618 billion yuan (RMB, the same below), and the planned construction period is 5 years.
As the last piece of the puzzle of the Guangzhou-Foshan Ring Road, the project will form a complete Guangzhou-Foshan Intercity Rail Transit Grand Ring Line, which will realize major transportation hubs such as Baiyun Airport, Guangzhou South Railway Station, Foshan West Railway Station, Guangzhou North Railway Station, as well as Fozhao City Intercity rail transit such as Intercity, Guangzhou-Foshan South Ring, Guangqing Intercity, Guangzhou-Dongguan-Shenzhen Intercity, the planned west extension of Guangzhou Metro Line 9 and Line 29, and the planned Foshan Metro Line 8, 14, and 15 , Plan the rapid interconnection of urban rail lines such as Foshan Tram Line T6.
