Clashes erupted between the Palestinians and the Israeli army, today, Wednesday, in separate locations in the West Bank, after the killing of 4 Palestinians by the occupation’s bullets in the city of Jenin in the northern West Bank.

The European Union expressed its concern about the "escalation of violence" in Jenin in light of the continued incursions of the Israeli army, describing the situation in the West Bank as "very fragile."

The Union Office in the Palestinian Territories said - in a tweet on Twitter - that it regrets the loss of life, and is concerned about the escalation of violence today in Jenin, following the Israeli army's incursions that resulted in the "killing of many Palestinians and wounding at least 40 others."

"All parties must exercise maximum restraint in using lethal force to prevent loss of life, and avoid inflaming tensions in the West Bank in an already very fragile situation... The violence must stop immediately," he added.

The Palestinian Ministry of Health had announced earlier today that the number of people who were martyred during the military operation carried out by the occupation forces in Jenin camp had risen to 4, after the death of the young man, Muhammad Abu Naasa, was announced.

The ministry said - on its official account on Facebook - that the three martyrs are Abdel Fathi Hazem, Muhammad Mahmoud Alona and Ahmed Nazmi Alawneh, adding that 9 others were wounded, two of them in serious condition.

Following the announcement of the martyrdom of the four young men, clashes erupted at the northern entrance to the cities of Ramallah and Al-Bireh (central West Bank), following a march organized by dozens of Palestinians and university students, denouncing the Israeli operation.

According to eyewitnesses, the Israeli army used live and rubber bullets and tear gas canisters to disperse the demonstrators, while Palestinian youths threw stones at the occupation forces and set fire to rubber tires.

Similar confrontations also erupted in Bab al-Zawiya neighborhood in Hebron (south) and at the main entrance to Azzun town, east of Qalqilya (north).

According to medical sources, no injuries were recorded, but the general and commercial strike took place today, Wednesday, in most of the West Bank cities in mourning for the lives of Palestinians.

The occupation said that no casualties or damage were recorded in its ranks, and that its soldiers responded to the sources of fire, while the attackers managed to leave the theater of operations.

Occupation sources reported that army and police units chased after a Palestinian who they said had seized a car near a checkpoint at the entrance to Shuafat refugee camp, north of occupied Jerusalem.

However, witnesses at the scene said that the Israeli occupation soldiers opened fire at a young man and then proceeded to chase a car, which ran away.

They added that they saw a civilian ambulance arriving at the scene.

Al-Jazeera correspondent had reported that the Israeli forces were carrying out a military operation in the Jenin refugee camp and its surroundings, while Palestinian platforms broadcast through social media clips documenting the occupation forces' siege of the home of the family of the martyr Raad Hazem, the perpetrator of the armed operation on Dizengoff Street in Tel Aviv on April 7. Witnesses said that an Israeli force stormed the camp this morning and surrounded Hazem's family, and indicated that they heard the sounds of explosions, followed by seeing columns of smoke rising from the site of the besieged house.

Video footage showed that military reinforcements of the occupation forces were directed to Jenin camp after clashes that took place in the town, according to Palestinian media.
