Europe 1 takes you to the heart of the jewel.

The atmosphere is confidential.

You carefully enter this round room of the Palais de Tokyo, in the heart of the 16th arrondissement of Paris – and above all you should not drop anything.

Gold-plated walls, carpet on the floor and security guards under pressure since behind these golden curtains, there is a treasure.

The golden sun!

A brilliant yellow diamond, the size of an ice cube with hypnotic charisma.

This jewel is signed by the jeweler Fred jeweler creator since 1936. Its creator is Fred Samuel, an Argentinian born in Buenos Aires and died in France in 2006, who rose to fame with his boutique on Place Vendôme in Paris.

Creations full of light and joie de vivre, which are exhibited in a retrospective exhibition from this Wednesday until October 24 at the Palais de Tokyo, in the 16th arrondissement.

Among them, the famous diamond - one of the largest cut in the world.

An "invaluable"

"In 1977, we discovered it in the United States, we then sold it at Maxim's and a few months before the exhibition, we found it in a private collection", says Valérie Samuel, vice-president of the Fred house, is the little daughter of jeweler Fred Samuel.

"The owner was not a seller, but when he found out it was us, he decided to give it to us. It was his destiny to belong to the Fred house."
