Three men, including two former police officers, were taken into police custody on Monday in an open investigation, in particular for corruption and influence peddling, the Paris prosecutor's office said on Tuesday, confirming information from the

Journal du Dimanche

and Le

Parisien

.

One of them was in function in the intelligence services (at the DCRI, which became DGSI) then hired in 2018 as a supporter referent at Paris Saint-Germain, according to these media and a source familiar with the matter.

The third man would be a “lobbyist”.

According to

Le Parisien

, the trio would have used their relationships to transmit sensitive and confidential information to institutions, including PSG.

The two police officers interviewed would have consulted police files “to obtain private information such as names, addresses and telephone numbers” or criminal records which they would then have “moneyed”.

Breaches of national defense secrecy

Asked, the PSG did not wish to comment immediately.

The investigation was opened on July 27, 2021 for violation of professional secrecy, influence peddling, corruption, forgery and use of forgery, assistance with illegal entry and stay in an organized gang, misuse of the purpose of a file of data, compromise of National Defense secrecy and illegal taking of interests, said the prosecution.

It would have been opened on the basis of information discovered during another investigation, that targeting the journalist Alex Jordanov, author of a book revealing certain methods of recruitment and management of sources within the General Directorate of Security interior (DGSI).

He has been indicted since June for disclosure of defense secrecy.

The former police officer, who has not been on duty at PSG for a few weeks, is also indicted for breaches of National Defense secrecy.

He would have used his network to render illegal services to the club.

He would thus have given information on ongoing legal proceedings involving his players, such as that concerning the slap inflicted by Neymar on a spectator, during the final of the Coupe de France in May 2019.
