“Indeed, in the second half of November (11/16–28/2022), joint Russian-Algerian anti-terrorist exercises of the ground forces “Desert Shield-2022” are planned in the ANDR at the Hamakir training ground,” the diplomat said in a statement.
Zakharova noted that the maneuvers are planned and will be carried out in accordance with the approved program of military cooperation with Algeria.
“I would like to emphasize that, like all military exercises in which the Russian Federation takes part, they are not directed against any third party,” she stressed.
According to the press service of the Southern Military District of the Russian Armed Forces, about 80 servicemen of motorized rifle formations stationed in the North Caucasus and 80 Algerian servicemen will take part in the event.
