In May 1958, the US Air Force launched the secret A119 project.

The goal?

Detonate a nuclear bomb on the Moon.

It is a question of creating an atomic mushroom cloud visible from Earth and thus demonstrating the power of the American armed forces in the midst of the Cold War.

But the project will be abandoned, leaving Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin to walk on the Moon on July 21, 1969.
