The foreign ministers of the United States and India held a meeting and agreed to deepen cooperation in the fields of security and economy, bearing in mind the countermeasures against China.

On the other hand, it seems that there remains a difference in positions regarding the setting of a ceiling price for Russian oil, which the United States and others are considering as part of sanctions against Russia, which continues its military invasion of Ukraine.

US Secretary of State Brinken and Indian Foreign Minister Jaishankar held a press conference after meeting in Washington on the 27th.

In it, Secretary Brinken said, "The relationship between the two countries is extremely important in order to maintain a free and open international order," and Foreign Minister Jaishankar said, "Cooperation between the two countries extends beyond the Indo-Pacific region." In response, he revealed that they agreed to deepen cooperation in the fields of security and economy, bearing in mind the countermeasures against China.

On the other hand, the talks also discussed setting ceiling prices for Russian oil, which the United States and Japan are considering as part of sanctions against Russia, which continues its military invasion of Ukraine.

Jaishankar said only that "our concerns should be mitigated by the tensions in the energy market."

Experts have pointed out that the cooperation of major consuming countries such as India is essential to ensure the effectiveness of the ceiling price for Russian oil. It seems that the difference in the position with the country India remains.
