• Interview The 'queen of coca': "The narco is very macho... And drugs are a business controlled by the Police"

The

National Court

has sentenced

Ana María Cameno

, known as the

Queen of coca

, to 16 years in prison for participating in the distribution of one hundred kilos of cocaine in different parts of Spain and for laundering millions of euros of profits in Panama

As legal sources have informed Efe, the second section of the Criminal Court of the

National Court

has imposed 12 years in prison for drug trafficking and another 4 years for money laundering.

Given the foreseeable sentence, the accused, on provisional release, was arrested this Monday, according to legal sources, to prevent her from trying to flee when the sentence was made public.

To regularize his situation, the Chamber plans to hold a hearing this Wednesday to determine whether to order his admission to provisional prison while waiting for the sentence to become final, the sources consulted have indicated to Efe.

The Anti-

Drug Prosecutor

requested for her a sentence of 25 years in prison, as well as a fine "of four times the value of the narcotic substance" and another of 1.2 million euros for money laundering.

She also accused him of illegal possession of weapons, a crime for which she has been acquitted, according to the sources.

Cameno was arrested on September 26, 2014 in

La Línea de la Concepción

(

Cádiz

), accused of directing the distribution of one hundred kilos of cocaine in different parts of Spain.

This operation entailed the dismantling of an alleged drug trafficker network of which Cameno was the head and which had set up a structure to launder the profits in financial products and through transfers to

Panama

through the

Bandenia chiriguito

, whose director has also sat in the bench for these events along with a dozen defendants.
