Last year, the bowl unexpectedly appeared on Polish Ebay and this weekend it finally came home again to the church, the Skarhultsborn and an extra music service.

The bowl from Lund's legendary silversmith Wiwen Nilsson was donated to the church in 1974 by Brita Anderson, then as now churchwarden in Skarhult, and was used for many years to collect among parishioners.

Starting price: $3,000

During the burglary seven years ago, someone broke open the safe where the valuables were kept and since then the bowl has disappeared without a trace.

The turning point came last year, when a private person contacted the pastor's office in Eslöv with a tip that a silver bowl with the inscription "Skarhult's church" was for sale on Polish Ebay.

The starting bid for the bowl was set at 3,000 dollars, which then corresponded to approximately 26,000 Swedish kronor.

- I was both surprised and very happy, says vicar Patrik Johansson.

Special service

For an unclear reason, the church burglary in 2015 was never reported to the police. Therefore, it took a complicated job to prove that the bowl belonged in the church - and to claim it back via Polish police and prosecutors.

That process had its happy ending last Sunday, when police officer Mart Nyman at Noa, the National Operative Department, traveled down from Stockholm to personally hand over the toast in connection with a musical service in the church.

- It's great fun when something goes all the way.

That doesn't happen every day in police life, says Mart Nyman.

From now on, the bowl will receive a new, safe storage in a different place than in Skarhult's church.
