• Valencian Community Puig ignores Sánchez and announces tax reductions for income of less than 60,000 euros and mortgage deductions

  • Galicia Rueda will deflate the first three sections of personal income tax to alleviate the price increase

The announcement by the president of the Valencian Community, Ximo Puig, to deflate personal income tax rates for incomes below 60,000 euros, has been revealed as a large china in the shoes of the Government and the socialist parliamentary group.

Puig, with his proposal, aligns with one of the approaches that the first opposition party, the PP, has been making to deflate the income tax of individuals on income below 40,000 euros, in short, to medium and low incomes.

The socialist spokesman in Congress, Patxi López, has distanced himself from the initiative of the Valencian president.

"I don't like the downward competitions very much", he has assured in reference to the struggle, to which the Valencian Community has now joined, to prevent inflation from taxing the income of workers.

López insists on the need for the State "to be strong" and, in this sense, advocates "dedicating the extraordinary collection" that is causing inflation, to "policies for the benefit of the working class."

In his opinion, deflating "is not a good invention" because, in his opinion, this ultimately means reducing income.

Puig's announcement has dislocated political positions, so that formations that until now had harshly criticized the proposal of the popular try to relocate.

Compromís, a usual ally of the formations that support the central Executive in Congress, but also a partner of the Government in the Valencian Generalitat, already assures that it supports the PP's proposal to deflate personal income tax on medium and low incomes.

The socialist spokesman has insisted, for his part, on the need to wait for the fiscal proposal presented on Thursday by the Minister of Finance, María Jesús Montero, and that, from his point of view, it will be a first step in the work not yet undertaking to carry out an in-depth tax reform.
