He noted that since yesterday, an operational reinforcement group at the Lars checkpoint has been deployed in the region. 

“Now the situation is being assessed, and, most likely, I will decide to introduce a partial state of emergency,” RIA Novosti quotes him.

He also stated the need to set up temporary accommodation centers there, since “there are both women and children, the basis is the male population, from almost all regions.”

Earlier, Georgian Interior Minister Vakhtang Gomelauri said there were no reasons to close the Kazbegi-Upper Lars customs checkpoint on the border with Russia.
