"It seems right to me - Zuppi writes in a note - to express heartfelt thanks to President Draghi and to all the government he chaired for the effort of these difficult months and for the working method that has distinguished him. Composing discordant visions in a single I believe that unitary interest remains an indispensable method also for the future. The indispensable superior interest requires us to put aside personal or individual interests, to free politics from tactics that are now incomprehensible and risky for everyone. We must think about the suffering of people and guarantee serious responses, not ideological or deceptive, which also indicate, if necessary, sacrifices, but give security and reasons for hope.The fundamental political confrontation must not be lacking in respect and must be based on knowledge of problems, on shared visions without cunning, with a passion for public affairs and without approximate agonisms that tend only to small personalistic positions and not to resolve issues ".

For Zuppi, "the crisis can, indeed, must be a great opportunity to rediscover what unites, to strengthen the sense of a community of destiny and the passion to make our country and the world better. The pandemics have made us all aware of vulnerability, of how what seemed safe can be questioned, as we tragically see with the war and its dangerous international consequences. Since the postwar period we have never experienced such a complex situation, due to inflation and increasing inequalities, the public debt which has reached an enormous size, the return to a confrontation between blocks that absorbs enormous energy and prevents development, the climate and environmental emergency,of the difficulty of the world of work with the sentence to precariousness with its load of fluidity ".       

It is a time in which we must rebuild the sense of community, in which, as President Mattarella recalled, a '' constructive contribution '' is needed from everyone, especially those who choose to engage in political life.
