Egypt monitors the second case of monkeypox

The Egyptian Ministry of Health announced in a statement today that it had detected the second case of monkeypox in the country, which is for a patient coming from an Arab country.

The ministry said in the statement that it has isolated the injured person in a hospital and taken all preventive measures, and that his general condition is stable.

On the seventh of September, the Ministry of Health announced that it had detected the first case of monkeypox for a citizen who had residency in one of the European countries.

And about 90 countries where monkeypox is not endemic have recorded an outbreak of the viral disease, which the World Health Organization has declared a global health emergency.

The monkeypox virus is transmitted through close contact with infected people, animals or contaminated materials and usually causes symptoms similar to but milder than those of smallpox, such as high fever, headache and rash.
