After President Vladimir Putin ordered partial mobilization, several protests broke out in the country.

In total, over 2,000 people are estimated to have been arrested during the protests of the past few days.

Bert Sundström says in SVT's Morgonstudion that there is information that many of those called in belong to ethnic minorities and less privileged groups.

- You put them on buses and drive off to a shorter training camp and then fight in Ukraine.

This is something that is really not popular in Russia, he says.

May be banned from leaving the country

Over the weekend, Russian newspaper Meduza reported that Russian men may be banned from leaving the country.

Bert Sundström says that the results of the so-called referendums may lead to the borders being closed.

- Within a few days, Putin will probably declare that these areas are Russian territory and, in connection with that, perhaps close the borders to men of military age.
