Several leaks on Nordstream 1 and 2 were discovered during Monday evening.

Illmari Käihkö, emphasizes that he wants to wait for the technical investigation before drawing any conclusions, but he believes that it is suspicious that the leaks occur so close together.

Käihkö believes that it could be an attempt to tire out the West and thus stop support for Ukraine.

- It could be about trying to make the situation in the West miserable.

It is possible that Putin has no other strategy left

There is also a theory in the German media that Ukraine would be behind the sabotage against the gas pipeline, because it would make it impossible for Russia to supply gas in other ways than through Poland or Ukraine.

However, Illmari Keihkö believes that this theory is unlikely.

- Ukraine is dependent on support from the West, so it feels unlikely and risky.

If you were to be caught for the sabotage, you risk losing support and they cannot afford that, he says.
