It was shortly after 20:00 on Sunday evening that the police received a call about an injured man.
When the police arrived, it appeared that the man's injuries indicated that he had been the victim of a crime, but he was awake and able to talk to them.
The residence where this is suspected to have taken place has been cordoned off for a technical examination and the police are working on initial investigation measures.
A preliminary investigation into attempted murder has been launched and the police assess that it is an isolated incident.
There is currently no one in custody in the case.
The case has been handed over to the Public Prosecutor's Office and the police are not releasing any further information at this time.
