Russia: deadly shooting in a school in the center of the country

The man who opened fire on Monday September 26 in a school in the Russian city of Izhevsk and killed 13 people, committed suicide after his gesture.

A man opened fire on Monday, September 26 in Ijevsk near Kazan, in central Russia.

The provisional toll stands at 13 dead, including seven children.

The facts took place on the morning of Monday, September 26.

The man, at the origin of the attack, wore a "

black sweater with Nazi symbolism and a balaclava

", according to a source contacted by AFP.

According to the governor of this region of central Russia, Alexander Bretchalov, "

an unidentified person entered the school

" before " 

killing the guard

" and opening fire inside the school.

Also according to the governor, the evacuation is complete and the entire perimeter has been cordoned off.

The investigators present on the spot quickly published a video showing the body of an individual lying on the ground, blood around the skull.

The city of Izhevsk where the attack took place is the capital of the republic of Udmurtia in the center of the country, just west of the Ural mountains.

It houses the factories manufacturing Kalashnikov assault rifles.

An investigation for murder and illegal carrying of weapons has already been opened and transferred to the Russian Investigative Committee, the country's main investigative body.

Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov told reporters that Russian President Vladimir Putin condemned an "

inhuman terrorist act

" and "deeply mourned 

the deaths of people and children at this school where a terrorist attack was perpetrated

”.
