Putin grants Edward Snowden Russian citizenship

Russian President Vladimir Putin granted former US intelligence contractor Edward Snowden, a refugee in Russia, Russian citizenship.

And according to a presidential decree published Monday, Edward Joseph Snowden, born on June 21, 1983, was included in the list of new Russian citizens, at a time when relations between Washington and Moscow reached their lowest historical levels due to the war in Ukraine.

In 2013, Snowden leaked classified data that revealed the way US intelligence agencies were collecting some of the data.
