Iraqi Parliament Speaker Muhammad al-Halbousi confirmed that his resignation from parliament, which he announced this afternoon, is final, and that he is awaiting a vote on it in the parliament session next Wednesday.

Al-Halbousi said during a session at the Al-Rafidain Forum for Dialogue: "I did not discuss with anyone about my resignation decision, and this decision was on my mind, especially after the difference in the composition of the current Iraqi parliament due to the withdrawal of the Sadrist movement's deputies, and relations must be normal with the current deputies."

He added: "We have to start by zeroing in on all crises, and the deputies must elect their representative in the Iraqi parliament after the Sadrist movement's deputies withdrew and address political differences."
