Xinhua News Agency, Budapest, September 25 (Reporter Chen Hao) Hungarian Foreign Affairs and Foreign Economic Minister Scijardo said in an interview with local public radio on the 25th that the Western sanctions against Russia have caused far more harm to Europe than to Russia. It was "a complete failure".

Scijardo said that when the EU discussed the first round of sanctions against Russia, it had predicted that the sanctions would bring Russia to its knees.

But the truth is that sanctions have done huge damage to Europe, sending inflation soaring, utility costs and food prices skyrocketing, and the economy at risk of recession.

Scijardo noted that the U.S. is profiting from EU sanctions.

While the EU economy was heading towards recession due to sanctions, the US economy gained competitiveness due to factors such as lower energy prices.

Sjjardo stressed that security of energy supply is a red line and Hungary will not agree to any decision that will harm its national interests.

Hungarian Prime Minister Orban said in an interview with the media in July that the EU's sanctions against Russia were "shooting in the lungs" and hurting the European economy.
