After the specially convened meeting of the Riksdag's defense and foreign affairs committee on Monday morning, chairman Pål Jonson (M) says again that Ukraine needs more support in the form of weapons systems.

- It is important that we take measures to send larger and more qualified defense equipment to Urkaina.

Specifically, the artillery piece Archer and robot system 70 are mentioned. The Moderates, the Christian Democrats and the Liberals agreed before the election that Ukraine has a greater need for such equipment than Sweden.

According to Jonson, it cannot only be about things that Sweden can avoid.

Will it be like that?

-

That is our ambition, says Jonson.

Big losses

Mikael Oscarsson, KD's defense policy spokesperson, says that Must informed that Russia suffered heavy losses.

- We received information that 80,000 of these 180,000 troops (soldiers) that the Russians have sent in have perished.

It is desperate on the Russian side to escalate this, unfortunately, says Oscarsson.

He also thinks that Sweden should send Archer pieces and robot 70 to Ukraine.

- They are of better use there than in our warehouses.

The Left Party: "Privacy"

Håkan Svenneling (V) participated in the meeting, but does not comment on which weapon systems may be relevant.

- A large part of the meeting took place under secrecy.

But it clearly affected the Russian mobilization, he says.

What do you think is needed for support from the Swedish side?

- Yes, it will be necessary.

We will need to support Ukraine in the long term both financially, humanitarianly and militarily.

Even if it concerns Archer?

-

We will see what the new government comes up with.

In a month's time, on October 25, the Armed Forces and the Armed Forces Materiel Works will respond to an assignment they were given by the outgoing government a few weeks ago.

The authorities must give their assessment of what support to Ukraine might look like in both the short and long term.
