The Department of Statistics and Community Development in Sharjah announced yesterday the start of the "Population Census 2022" under the slogan "You are important", with the aim of supporting the march of comprehensive development plans and achieving social welfare, under the directives of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah. Calling for the promotion of comprehensive development plans in the emirate.
The department indicated that the results of the report will be submitted to His Highness, the Ruler of Sharjah, and a number of government agencies, in order to draw a comprehensive picture of the emirate's reality, as it represents a report on the living conditions of the emirate's citizens and the nominal lists of social groups.
The Executive Council of the Emirate of Sharjah uses the results of the census in the process of formulating policies and making development decisions that lead to the development of the lives of all residents of the emirate, in addition to its contribution to providing government agencies with statistical reports that help them in the planning and implementation processes.
The department invited every resident of the emirate to help complete the census and to clearly disclose the required information, noting that the census guarantees the confidentiality of data for families and individuals, and its details do not entail any executive procedures, as some residents believe who avoid revealing all the details related to them. them.
Regarding the timetable for the "Sharjah Census 2022", "Sharjah Statistics" noted that by the beginning of October 2022, the department will have completed the preparatory and experimental phases for the census, and started the implementation phase, which takes five months, until February 2023, noting that the preliminary results of the census It will be announced during March 2023.
The final results of the census allow the various institutions and all other parties or individuals, such as researchers, scholars and media professionals, to benefit from their published outputs through the official websites of the Government of Sharjah and the open data platform.
The department pointed out that the outputs of the census will be used in development planning in various fields, measuring growth and demographics, enumerating the various groups sponsored by the Government of Sharjah, measuring the size of the workforce, promoting policies that support women's empowerment in all fields, and providing an updated framework for surveys and social and economic statistical studies.
