Palestinian condemnation

On Saturday evening, the Palestinian Foreign Ministry condemned what it described as a "crime of execution" by the Israeli police, the teacher, Muhammad Ali Hussein Awad Abu Kafeh, 36, from the town of Beit Ajza, northwest of occupied Jerusalem.

In a statement, the Palestinian Foreign Ministry accused the Israeli police of deliberately shooting Abu Kafeeh, after his car collided with an Israeli police vehicle in a traffic accident southwest of Nablus.

It considered this heinous crime an integral part of the daily killing series against the Palestinians, according to the shooting instructions issued by the Israeli political and military echelon.

The Palestinian Foreign Ministry explained that these instructions granted the Israeli soldiers a license to kill the Palestinian without posing any danger to the soldiers, and provided them with protection and immunity from any penalties.

The ministry called on the international community to provide international protection for the Palestinians, and called on the International Criminal Court to "start immediately its investigations into the crimes of the occupation."

Earlier yesterday, the Israeli army claimed that one of its soldiers thwarted a car-ramming operation near the settlement of "Hafat Gilad" (southwest of Nablus).

The occupation army added that its forces, which were engaged in a joint routine activity with the police, spotted a suspicious car that tried to run over its members, but one of the soldiers fired towards the car and neutralized the Palestinian, without causing any casualties among the Israeli forces.

For its part, the Kan channel, affiliated with the official Israeli broadcaster, said that a Palestinian rammed his car into a police car near the settlement of Havat Gilad, and a soldier at the scene shot him directly.

The occupied West Bank is witnessing increasing tension between the Palestinians and the occupation forces, as at least 70 Palestinians have been killed by the Israeli army since last March 31.

In 2014, US-brokered peace talks between the two sides, aimed at establishing a Palestinian state in the Israeli-occupied West Bank, Gaza Strip and East Jerusalem, collapsed due to the continued construction of settlements in the occupied West Bank.
