  The "Firearms Protocol" has been negotiated within the UN framework since 1998. It was adopted by the UN General Assembly in May 2001 and entered into force in July 2005. There are currently 122 States parties.

The main purpose of the Protocol is to formulate international norms in the manufacture, import, export and management of firearms, so as to promote and strengthen international cooperation against related transnational organized crimes.

  China has always attached great importance to various problems caused by the proliferation of guns, and firmly opposes the illegal manufacture and trafficking of guns.
