By canoe to cross the main street of Lacco Ameno, on the island of Ischia: this is the singular form of protest carried out this morning by a merchant due to the flooding of several sections of the road of the island town which also leads to the prestigious Regina Isabella hotel .

Following the abundant rains that have also been scourging the green island since tonight, Corso Angelo Rizzoli is flooded for several sections and in some points the water reaches forty centimeters despite the fact that the road is a few meters away from the sea and the beach below.

Rainwater is not disposed of properly so that both the roadway and the sidewalks are impracticable for many meters: for this reason Michele Schiano, owner of a shop on Corso Rizzoli, wanted to express his disappointment by walking along a long stretch of the road with a canoe and posting photos and videos on his social profiles: "It's not the first time I've done it" says Schiano all'Ansa "but the years go by and no solution can be found. Today I have to keep my shop closed which is flooded but there they are inconveniences for the elderly, for children and also for those who have to go to vote. And to think that the sea is less than two meters away ".

The persistence of unfavorable weather conditions and the announced orange weather alert led to the closure for tomorrow of all schools of all levels on the island of Ischia.

The decision to suspend the teaching activity was taken by the mayors of Barano, Forio, Ischia, Lacco Ameno and Serrara Fontana and by the prefectural commissioner who currently governs the municipality of Casamicciola;

the mayors also issued a warning to induce the population to limit travel to a minimum due to the potentially dangerous situation.
