Al Hashemi said during the country’s speech that she delivered to the general debate of the 77th session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York: “We are on the threshold of a new phase of the international system. On a solid network of international relations in which we are launching new paths of joint cooperation in the fields of economy, sustainable development, advanced technology and scientific research.

She stressed that the UAE will continue its path, whether at the humanitarian, diplomatic or development level, in supporting peoples affected by crises and disasters, without any religious, ethnic, political or cultural considerations.

//Mr. President, I thank Abdullah Shahid for his distinguished management of the work of the previous session, and I congratulate, Saba Korosi, for presiding over the work of this session, wishing you success.

We are on the cusp of a new phase of the international system. Our choice in the UAE is for the slogan for this phase to be peace, recovery and prosperity within the framework of an open world order, based on a solid network of international relations in which we inaugurate new paths for joint cooperation in the fields of economy, sustainable development, advanced technology and scientific research. This is the approach followed by my country in implementing its foreign policies, which governs our bilateral relations and our participation in multilateral frameworks, and it is also the approach that inspires our orientations during our current membership in the Security Council.

However, we are aware of the magnitude of the grave challenges facing us today and the increasing polarization that surrounds the international system following the rise in the frequency of crises and the emergence of new hotbeds of conflicts around the world, accompanied by a dangerous escalation of the activities of armed groups, at a time when food and climate crises are afflicting the peoples of the world, threatening to undermine the gains of civilization. humanity, not to mention the severe impact of these threats on poor and developing countries and their ability to meet the needs of their citizens.

While all of these issues raised questions about the effectiveness of the current international system, this system, which was built on the ruins of World War II, contributed to the enhancement of international security and stability to a large extent.

But what we need today is to restore confidence in this international system and in the legitimacy of its institutions by enhancing its efficiency and ability to address the current crises and overcome the existential challenges of the twenty-first century, as my country believes that we - the countries present in this hall - have the ability to do so, if we are determined and harnessed. What possibilities we have to chart a better future for our peoples.

From this standpoint, I would like to emphasize a number of issues that we should focus on in the coming period:

“The course of the past period emphasized the need to respect international law, especially the Charter of the United Nations, and to apply it consistently and without double standards or selectivity, as an indispensable basis for ensuring A stable and secure international order based on respect for the sovereignty, independence, unity and territorial integrity of states.

In this context, we renew our call for an end to Iran's occupation of the three Emirati islands: Tunb al-Kubra, Tunb al-Sughra and Abu Musa, over which history and international law prove the sovereignty of my country. One day we will stop claiming our legitimate right to these islands, either through direct negotiation or the International Court of Justice.

Every effort should be made to overcome the state of inactivity that has become the most prominent feature of the current international approach to dealing with crises, move towards finding permanent, comprehensive and just solutions to the escalating armed conflicts around the world, and address the repercussions resulting from the turmoil in the international scene.

Therefore, the next stage requires the adoption of innovative means that enhance the effectiveness of our international system and transform countries and regions stricken with crises into parties that have a constructive role in addressing the challenges of the times..While the Arab world and the African continent during the past decades had the lion's share of those crises, this We taught difficult and important lessons about the necessity of giving priority to diplomatic solutions, dialogue and de-escalation, and the importance of redressing tensions in order to avoid the emergence of new hotbeds of conflicts and to combat extremist currents.

The recent positive moves in the two regions to build bridges are prominent examples of resolving past differences, building new partnerships based on cooperation in various fields, support for important sectors such as health, education, and industry, and enhancing the role of women.

We affirm here our firm position calling for the establishment of an independent Palestinian state on the borders of June 4, 1967, with East Jerusalem as its capital, in accordance with agreed international references, and we welcome what was stated in the statement of the Prime Minister of the State of Israel from this podium regarding support for the vision of a two-state solution.

Just as we look here to advance all political processes in our region and overcome the difficulties in the paths of peace there, but this should be accompanied by strengthening the unified international position that rejects interference in the internal affairs of Arab countries, which undermine efforts to resolve conflicts, fuel extremism and terrorism, and constitute a flagrant violation of the sovereignty, unity and integrity of states. its lands.

In light of the increasing frequency of crises, it has become necessary to activate the role of regional and international organizations, through consultation with them, and to provide them with tools, resources and expertise that enable them to contribute effectively to responding to the current challenges. Regional organizations are more familiar with local contexts and have the ingredients that enable them to support mediation efforts, as we have seen in The endeavors of many of them, including the African Union, whose initiatives we commend and support.

As we all know, the protection of international peace and security requires working towards a world free of weapons of mass destruction, especially in the Middle East and the Korean Peninsula, and strengthening dialogue to reduce tensions and address regional and international concerns in this regard.

It is not possible to talk about a secure and stable international order in the absence of a firm international position that rejects terrorism in all its forms and manifestations and is committed to holding its perpetrators and financiers accountable. The recent period has witnessed an increase in the flow of weapons to conflict areas and the inclusion of individuals from various backgrounds, as well as the emergence of groups with high combat and military capabilities, and what This is followed by the return of fighters to their homes without mechanisms to control them, and the situation becomes more dangerous with the terrorists using missiles and drones to launch cross-border attacks. These developments reflect the mutating nature of terrorism, which requires preventing conflict areas from becoming a safe haven for terrorists and seeking to modernize and develop means of deterrence. And the adoption of international rules and regulations that prevent terrorists from obtaining advanced weapons and advanced technology.

This threat has emerged in its clearest manifestations through the vicious and aggressive attacks launched by the terrorist Houthi group early this year on the capital of my country, Abu Dhabi, as well as on the sisterly Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, at a time when other terrorist groups such as ISIS, Al-Qaeda and Al-Shabab are seeking to develop their capabilities and reorganize its ranks, which poses a direct threat to the gains made as a result of international cooperation in the war against terrorism.

As governments, we must initiate steps that represent the best model for our peoples in consolidating the values ​​of tolerance and peaceful coexistence, in the face of the escalating attempts to spread hate speech around the world.

Based on the inevitability of the one destiny of humanity, we must recognize the necessity of joint action and harnessing all our capabilities and energies to implement comprehensive solutions and responses that rise to the level of the existential challenges we face today, and which are not limited to a specific country or region.

There is no clearer example of this fact than the repercussions of climate change, as many peoples of the world are exposed today to the intensification of devastating floods, heat waves and droughts, with which humanitarian crises and security threats intensify, especially in the regions most vulnerable to climate change... All these facts confirm that the fate of our planet At stake, which requires us to build partnerships and promote joint action, as well as our commitment to all of us in supporting climate action by adopting the renewable energy agenda, providing adequate funding for climate action, and supporting developing countries to build the resilience of their societies.

It has become clear that investing in renewable energy means investing in the economy, international peace and security and the future of future generations. In this regard, we must exploit the opportunities available to devise practical, logical and thoughtful solutions to the climate crisis, including during the 27th session of the Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention regarding climate change to be held in the sisterly Arab Republic of Egypt next November, as we urge all Member States to actively participate in this session.. As my country prepares to host the 28th session next year, we are working on building partnerships, ensuring inclusiveness and focusing on areas that will achieve results aimed at addressing this phenomenon.

Also, focusing on climate action will alleviate the food security crisis around the world, as the Agricultural Climate Innovation Initiative that my country launched with the United States of America seeks to improve food production and reduce hunger levels around the world, and at the same time we must intensify food assistance to people and maintain continued flows Global Foodstuff, while searching for practical ways to secure supply chains in light of the current geopolitical differences.

Despite the seriousness of the challenges and the importance of addressing them, we must not lose sight of the need to look to the future, to ensure the sustainability of stability and prosperity. From this standpoint, my country has built a knowledge-based and diversified economy based on scientific and technological progress and peaceful and secure societies. Regional integration and the development of cooperation in the fields of development and economy in our region, we are witnessing today the emergence of a society for progress in the Middle East that will form a basis for joint action around major global priorities.

We see the youth as the best engine for these efforts, as they have proven during the current crises their ability to withstand and innovate, and have shown an unparalleled passion in communicating with their peers around the world to find sustainable solutions to global challenges. The full, equal and meaningful participation of women in various fields contributes to the renaissance of societies and ensuring their stability today and tomorrow.
