North Korea's chief nuclear representatives from the United States, South Korea and Japan had a phone call right after North Korea launched a short-range ballistic missile and discussed countermeasures.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced that Kim Geon, head of the Korean Peninsula Peace Negotiation Headquarters, held a wired consultation with US State Department special representative for North Korea Sung Kim on the morning of the 25th.

According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, both sides pointed out and condemned today's launch by North Korea as a clear violation of UN Security Council resolutions and a provocation that heightens tensions on the Korean Peninsula and in the region.

They also agreed to "continue to strengthen the cooperation between the ROK, the US and South Korea, the US and Japan for a united response from the international community while maintaining a strong ROK-U.S. combined defense posture."
