“Through these changes, we are helping the Iranian people to be better prepared to counter the government’s attempts to monitor and censor them,” the agency said in a statement.

The corresponding license allows to carry out paid or gratuitous export and re-export services directly or indirectly from the United States or by an American person, regardless of the location of the communication link via the Internet in Iran.

In early July, the US imposed sanctions on 13 companies, two offshore tankers and two individuals linked to Iran's oil sector.
