The plans for the new main line between Linköping and Järna in Sörmland have existed for a long time and construction has begun in some places.

The former red-green government at Riksdag level has been much more positive about new trunk railways being built than the government that is expected to take over power.

In Linköping, which has put a lot of time and money into the Ostlänken being built, people are still positive that the construction will be completed.

- I expect the Moderates to stick to the line they had with the Eastern Link being completed.

There will be a negotiation with the other parties, but I expect it to be over, says municipal councilor Niklas Borg (M) in Linköping.

Still believe in the project

Norrköping is also a municipality that for a long time has pushed for the Ostlänken to be built.

- At the moment I'm not worried, but then you never know when a new government will have to be negotiated, new majorities will have to be negotiated and the content of a national plan will have to be compromised, says municipal councilor Olle Vikmång (S) in Norrköping.
